When joining this ship in August 1961, discrete inquiries
were made regarding holding lodge. The Executive Officer was
all in favour but only a small number of "Brothers" of various
other lodges could be mustered. As QUEENBOROUGH was to be with
us the whole time, the question was then put to them. QUEENBOROUGH
mustered two old friends, namely Tom Fleming and Cliff Cameron,
who backed up by Ces Bolton managed to form a working majority
to re-float lodge Tasman. QUEENBOROUGH had the Regalia and
until approached by us were in the same predicament. Since
amalgamating, many new Brothers have joined our ranks and lodges
have been held at the Armada Club in Singapore and the China
Fleet Club in Hong Kong. Regalia Visits have been paid to various
other lodges in both Singapore and Hong Kong and Penang. Owing
to the fact we are away from our families over Xmas, the lodge
will be holding a Christmas party in Hong Kong and around the
same time we hope to raise four brothers to the next degree
thereby keeping lodge "TASMAN" afloat irrespective of Drafting
Requirements.
Much good work has been done by and for the lodge by Len Hulm,
"Mac" Madian, "Lofty" Schultz and various other brothers not
forgetting "Stainless" Steele. Up to date a really enlightening
time has been had and for two Sister Ships of our size to produce
such a response to the Honourable and Ancient Order has been
marvelous.
In conclusion, we send greetings to all lodges ashore or afloat
both G.I.E. and G.A.B. May the Order strengthen the whole time
with True and Loyal Supporters. |
